About WAV Underground
Do you have a friend that always plays obscure music by bands you’ve never even heard of? If you love and admire that friend for their wonderful and tasteful tunes, then great! This site is just another one of those friends! Now, you may not vibe with every selection, and that’s perfectly okay. The goal is to help you find at least one new song/artist that, in your eyes, absolutely slaps. And, along the way, you might learn a thing or two about underground music.
Background
My name is Kara. Here are some things about my music background:
- My extracurricular activity in school was always choir
- I started learning the guitar in 6th grade
- As a kid I listened to stuff like The Jonas Brothers, Shania Twain, and Second Hand Serenade
- My taste in music has since developed. Although, The Jonas Brothers will always hold a special place in my heart
- At 16 years old I declared myself as a singer-songwriter when I released my first official YouTube video
- I recently fulfilled my dream of starting a band where I'm a co-lead singer and I play the acoustic and electric guitar
What's In a Name?
WAV: Wave form Audio File Format
I know what it looks like, but it’s pronounced wave, like the ocean (/wæv/). A WAV file is a really pure and uncompressed piece of audio. It’s quality sound in its rawest form.
Underground: Below the surface or ground
Pretty self-explanatory, but the Urban Dictionary defines “Underground” in a different way:
A genre in music and other forms of media intended for an elite audience, that is often characterized by its high levels of originality and experimentation, and does not conform to typical standards, trends, or hypes as set by the popular mainstream media.

In a simple sense, WAV Underground is quality music that is anything but mainstream. This music is made by the raw passion of artists who use instruments and vocals as a way to express their experiences and emotions. It’s truly inspiring and I respect their craft.
